Carter Marine Group was engaged by Gippsland Ports to carry out critical piling works at the Lakes Entrance Fishermans Cooperative (LEFL) facility in Lakes Entrance—an essential operational and fuel supply hub supporting commercial fishing and marine activities in the Gippsland Lakes region. The project focused on replacing aging structural elements beneath the wharf to maintain safety, structural integrity, and service continuity for vessels reliant on LEFL’s infrastructure.
Scope of Work
- Demolition and reconstruction of the LEFCOL South Jetty, including removal of existing timber and steel structures.
- Installation of 18 steel tube piles (with HDPE sleeves) and 4 hardwood timber buffer piles.
- Construction of a new concrete jetty using precast crossheads, deck panels, and in-situ concrete topping.
- Installation of marine fixtures including timber kerbs, bollards, buffer framing, steel brackets, and safety signage.
- Remedial works to the eastern seawall, including dredging, rock infill, and geotextile fabric lining.
- Installation of scour protection using a single layer of interlocked armour rock.
- Backfilling with lean-mix concrete to stabilize voids behind the seawall and reinforce shoreline integrity.
- Full site management, including environmental controls, temporary works, reinstatement, and defect rectification.
