About the Role
Carter Marine Group is a marine manufacturing and construction contractor located in Bairnsdale in the beautiful East Gippsland Region. Some of our projects include the manufacture and construction of pontoons, jetties, wharves, bulk loading facilities, reclamation, salvage and marinas and associated marine construction across East Coast of Australia.
We are currently seeking a suitably experienced person to supervise and lead a marine construction crew specialising in marine and civil construction.
Reporting to the Project Manager, this role will require you to be primarily site based leading a team of up to 10 people at any one time plus various other trades accessing the site.
Key responsibilities include:
Plan, implement and supervise all daily operations on-site with a “hands on” approach;
Strong focus on safe work culture and processes and understanding of IMS safety systems;
Manage and develop crews including rostering and on-site training;
Prioritise tasks and allocate resources accordingly and efficiently;
Work to project timelines, targets and programs;
Manage subcontractors;
Complete relevant site documentation and reports;
Conduct site workgroup meetings including SWMS, pre-start and toolbox meetings daily or as required;
Maintain the integrity of site;
Provision of site inductions for employees, contractors and visitors;
Manage and maintain allocated site vessels, plant and equipment;
Manage and control site expenditure;
Ensure that all risks and activities are managed in accordance with quality, WHS and environmental obligations; and
Understand Covid Safe Plans and necessary marshal duties to the site
In addition to your proven supervisory experience, the role requires the following:
Trade qualification in carpentry, civil construction or other relevant industry experience equivalent to a trade;
Good organisational skills;
Ability to lead by example;
Ability to foster great team work;
Self-motivated, hard-working, punctual and reliable;
Excellent communication skills;
Demonstrated computer literacy i.e. Word, Excel;
Great work ethic - self-motivated, hard-working, punctual and reliable
A current Drivers Licence, Plant operation tickets would be considered highly desirable;

Demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to changing circumstances and priorities;
